We provide a great team to help you start, run, and grow your business. With experts in business, software, hardware, and industrial production we can support your business so you can focus on what’s really important: your work and ideas.
BlueSprout invests in select start-ups and businesses. From initial seed funding, free services, BlueSprout Business Workshops, to helping you secure major capital investment – we can help fund and guide your business to success.
Our campus is comprised of over seven acres and more than 160,000 square feet of flexible office, co-working space, work/live units, light manufacturing and rapid prototyping facilities. Our location provides easy access to I-880, a 20 minute drive to downtown San Francisco and 40 drive to San Jose. For those who prefer public transit, we provide shuttle service to BART and great bike lanes along the waterfront to Jack London Square.
BlueSprout believes that young companies with new ideas need long-term support to be successful. We call it the Pull approach compared to the Push approach that other incubators and accelerators employ. A Push approach is having a set application date followed by a fixed schedule of intense R&D, prototyping, and mentoring where applicants are provided a small about of seed funding in exchange for a sliver of equity. The goal for those incubators is to push the companies to a “demo day” in a few months to create room for the next group of applicants.
BlueSprout’s pull approach takes a very different long term view on how to grow ideas and companies. We don’t have set application dates and forced completion dates. We know that some great companies will take more time to be truly successful. The Pull approach is patient and supportive. We understand that not all new companies can be crammed into a four-month development timeframe.
BlueSprout’s main goal in starting new companies is to be of service to help solve your problems. If you are developing briliant hardware, we know that solving those problems takes time. This is the main premise behind our Pull approach. A great example of the problem solving processs we employ is summarized by William Pietri’s flowchart.
TechShop is great to build a single thing. China is great if you need to build a million of a thing. BlueSprout fills the gap between TechShop and going to China. By having high-grade tools and a trained flexible workforce, BlueSprout helps local companies rapidly prototype and produce small-batches of products.
